Dash Cams

Dash Cameras, also referred to as Dash Cams, are security devices that record and monitor activity around your vehicle. Dash Cams are mounted in the middle of your front windshield and some systems come with or have the capabilities of adding a rear and / or interior camera so you can not only record / monitor around your vehicle, but also inside the vehicle. Dash Cams provide audio and video evidence of on or off road incidents. If your in an accident you can prove to your insurance company that you are not at fault. While the vehicle is parked, if the Dash Cam supports parking mode, you can catch the license plate of a hit and run or potentially the face of thief trying to breaking into your vehicle. Your vehicle ever been vandalized? With a Dash Cam system you have the potential to catch the perpetrator in the act.

When choosing a Dash Cam system you want to look for certain things. The quality of the camera is important. Most quality Dash Cams will have a 1080p Full HD or better! The higher the quality of the camera the better the images will be so you can actually read license plate numbers or facial characteristics. Especially at night, the better the camera image quality the more details you will be able to see in the video recording when it is dark. If you are worried about theft or vandalism then parking mode will be important. You will want to make sure your Dash Cam supports a parking mode function. Current draw of the system is important if you are using a parking mode feature, you want to use a system that has less current draw so it does not excessively drain your battery. Finally the amount of camera inputs the Dash Cam system has. If you want inner and outer monitoring then you will need to make sure the Dash Cam has the capabilities of supporting 3 cameras simultaneously.
